As a Venice elopement photographer, I had the honor of capturing a breathtaking morning celebration that began just as the sun was rising over the canals.
Getting Ready at Il Palazzo Experimental
Preparations Begin
The day started early—at 6:30 AM—with quiet, emotional moments at Il Palazzo Experimental, a charming hotel in Dorsoduro, Venice. The soft morning light filtered through the windows, creating a beautiful, cinematic atmosphere. The bride and groom prepared in separate rooms, both filled with excitement and emotion.
As a photographer, these quiet morning hours are some of my favorite to capture. The connection, the anticipation, the gentle touches—it’s the essence of elopement photography in Venice.
A Water Taxi Ride to San Giorgio Maggiore
By 7:30 AM, we stepped onto a classic Venetian water taxi, gliding through the peaceful canals. The city was just waking up, making it feel like we had Venice all to ourselves.
Our destination: Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore, one of the most iconic locations in Venice, standing tall on its own island with panoramic views over the city.
A Dreamlike Ceremony at 8:00 AM
The ceremony began at 8:00 AM, inside the breathtaking basilica. With its grand architecture and peaceful silence, it was the perfect setting for an intimate elopement.
The couple exchanged vows in soft whispers, with the sound of water and distant church bells in the background. As a Venice elopement photographer, these quiet, emotional moments are what I live for.
Post-Ceremony Photos Around Venice
After the ceremony, we boarded the water taxi once more for a relaxed photo session until 10:30 AM. We explored hidden canals, walked hand in hand over charming bridges, and captured timeless portraits against the historic beauty of Venice.
From reflections in the water to sunlit alleyways, Venice provided a magical backdrop for every frame.
